Summary

In this riotous young adult romp for fans of Recommended for You and A Cuban Girl’s Guide to Tea and Tomorrow, a teen girl has the worst Valentine’s Day ever—only to relive it over and over again。

After living through a dumpster fire of a Valentine’s Day, Emilie Hornby escapes to her grandmother’s house for some comfort and a consolation pint of Ben & Jerry’s。 She passes out on the couch, but when she wakes up, she’s back home in her own bed—and it’s Valentine’s Day all over again。 And the next day? Another nightmare V-Day。

Emilie is stuck in some sort of time loop nightmare that she can’t wake up from as she re-watches her boyfriend, Josh, cheat on her day after day。 In addition to Josh’s recurring infidelity, Emilie can’t get away from the enigmatic Nick, who she keeps running into—sometimes literally—in unfortunate ways。

How many days can one girl passively watch her life go up in flames? And when something good starts to come out of these terrible days, what happens when the universe stops doling out do-overs?

I knew I was going to love this but I didn’t expect to love it as much as Painters others books, but I was so proved wrong。 I’m not usually a big fan of the plot of where the mc goes through the same day over and over again, it’s so unrealistic to me that I’ve just never loved the plot like, however, Em made up for that and honestly It didn’t bother me that much。 Em is now one of my fav female mc she is so relatable and it was so fun to watch her grow, also I loved how Nicks character developed I knew I was going to love this but I didn’t expect to love it as much as Painters others books, but I was so proved wrong。 I’m not usually a big fan of the plot of where the mc goes through the same day over and over again, it’s so unrealistic to me that I’ve just never loved the plot like, however, Em made up for that and honestly It didn’t bother me that much。 Em is now one of my fav female mc she is so relatable and it was so fun to watch her grow, also I loved how Nicks character developed throughout the story。 The Taylor Swift References, there was even a Christina Lauren reference, and just all the talk about books and what it’s like growing up and being lonely and turning to books made this so fun and relatable to read as a reader! One of my favorite books this year for sure! 。。。more

This book had me grinning the whole time。 So stinking cute, and I adored Nick and Emilie and the adventures they had together High school me can relate a lot to Emilie’s overachieving and people pleasing ways, so I loved getting to see her character and her story unfoldA cute, light, heartwarming read that I devoured!

easiest five stars ever miss lynn painter just never miss, i simply trust her with my whole life,, literally finished reading this at four in the morning and the amount of control i dont have to stop squealing and kicking my feet— 😩 also, i went into this blind with expectations that it’d be somehow similar to bttm (not plot-wise, more like world(?)-wise if that makes sense??) and i totally didn’t expect for things to be the way they turned out, to which i said, “ah that’s why it’s titled ‘the d easiest five stars ever miss lynn painter just never miss, i simply trust her with my whole life,, literally finished reading this at four in the morning and the amount of control i dont have to stop squealing and kicking my feet— 😩 also, i went into this blind with expectations that it’d be somehow similar to bttm (not plot-wise, more like world(?)-wise if that makes sense??) and i totally didn’t expect for things to be the way they turned out, to which i said, “ah that’s why it’s titled ‘the do-over’” it was literally do-overs lmao alsoalso, i just love how the characters turned out, i literally expected her school life to be like hell the day after DONC so imagine my surprise when mostly everything went so smooth, WHICH I LOVE bc i was literally anxious about her actions thinking they’ll be erased and forgotten the moment she wakes up, and josh was actually pretty decent??? and they actually so adorable post-break up??? i would love to see them hang out as besties :(( last also, i love nick and emilie so so much ☹️🫶 。。。more

ABSOLUTELY ADORABLE!when Em started her DNOC (Day of No Consequences), i could just FEEL my heart sink as i knew it would end up being her last do-over day。 i was absolutely nerve-wrecked for what would happen the next day when she DID end up with consequences。 i absolutely LOVE that Em and Josh were able to stay friends and that everything was okay with them。 he seemed like a genuinely sweet person and i’m glad they realized they liked each other as friends。do i recommend: Of course, 1000000%, ABSOLUTELY recommend! Favorite Quote(s) : “I’m just a girl who is incandescently happy at the moment。”“I fell in love with you on Valentine’s Day, Emilie, but I need more than just seven minutes。” 。。。more

You had me at the first Taylor Swift reference。 I don't always love a repeating day book, but this book was sweet and funny。 The characters were great and I devoured this YA romance。 This is my second book by Lynn Painter and I can't wait for her next。 You had me at the first Taylor Swift reference。 I don't always love a repeating day book, but this book was sweet and funny。 The characters were great and I devoured this YA romance。 This is my second book by Lynn Painter and I can't wait for her next。 。。。more

This review has been hidden because it contains spoilers。 To view it, click here。 I love this as much as Lynn's previous YA book "Better than the movies"。 I have read enough time-loop stories to be able to guess that Em's loop would end once she starts getting loose and having a perfect day。 Yet I never could guess which day would be the perfect day。 I thought the night Em was on the phone with Nick was cute and nothing could best that。 Man I was so wrong once she started her "best day"。 I love every minute of the date like it actually happened to me。 Best book of 2022 ♡ (Ple I love this as much as Lynn's previous YA book "Better than the movies"。 I have read enough time-loop stories to be able to guess that Em's loop would end once she starts getting loose and having a perfect day。 Yet I never could guess which day would be the perfect day。 I thought the night Em was on the phone with Nick was cute and nothing could best that。 Man I was so wrong once she started her "best day"。 I love every minute of the date like it actually happened to me。 Best book of 2022 ♡ (Please make this into a movie, Netflix!!) 。。。more

I really like books with the Groundhog Day trope, so I was excited for this one, but oh boy… It's such a shame that this trope was not properly executed in this book and I dare to say that if someone doesn't have a plan/an idea how they want to explain the time loop, then they shouldn't write a book with such trope in a first place。Em prefering to live with her dad (loving her dad more), TS refrences and granny having a fling with a baker(?) are the only things that made me rate it 2⭐️ and not 1 I really like books with the Groundhog Day trope, so I was excited for this one, but oh boy… It's such a shame that this trope was not properly executed in this book and I dare to say that if someone doesn't have a plan/an idea how they want to explain the time loop, then they shouldn't write a book with such trope in a first place。Em prefering to live with her dad (loving her dad more), TS refrences and granny having a fling with a baker(?) are the only things that made me rate it 2⭐️ and not 1。I think Lynn Painter books are not for me, cause it's the second one of her books that I read this year that disappointed me, especially the last 1/3 of it。 。。。more

LOVE。 i just love the way that lynn painter makes her characters feel so real。 she can do no wrong when it comes to YA rom com novels。 all the different references (taylor swift, gilmore girls, etc) like i’m sorry, referring to Nick as a Jess Mariano type ? i’m swooning。

Taylor swift songs: “state of grace”, “labyrinth” Lynn Painter’s books always have many taylor swift references, but I think this one is her most swiftie book yet!!! “I had a marvelous time ruining everything” (from “last great American dynasty”) was a huge running theme throughout this book!
